Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ve heard about Second Life’s Relay for Life. The Relay is SL’s big charity drive for the American Cancer Society, and this year it kicked off with a huge clothing fair that began this past Monday. Today, we’re going to talk about the RFL Clothing fair, including the fashion shows taking place during the fair. We’re also going to talk about another show coming up that we hope will be the start of an exciting series!

On this episode of Second Style Stylecast, we speak with model, shape maker, style maven and all around SLebrity Haver Cole about mixing and matching clothes in the land of the pre-packaged outfit. Ms. Cole believes in customizing one’s avatar so that it truly expresses who you are. She even breaks up outfits in her inventory so she can find favorite pieces without a hassle.

If you’re listening to Second Style Stylecast, odds are, you love to shop. Not just in Second Life, but in real life as well. In real life, you can shop online or by catalog while you’re at work. Of course, if you don’t have the money to spend, you can spend your lindens at several websites devoted to SL shopping. Now, when your boss catches you shopping online at work, you’re just as likely to be shopping for the latest from PixelDolls as you are to be visiting JCrew.com. Today, we’re going to talk about your options for satisfying your SL shopping urges when you can’t get in-world. Read more

Musicians
Everyone loves live Second Life music. No matter where you go there is always something happening whether it be a Disco party put on by DJ’s or a live concert with some of the great musicians that Second Life holds.
Operation Set the Music Free is a chance for you to get your original music out there for people to listen to. The way this works is that you send us MP3s of your original songs and our podcasters will select songs from artists to help promote your music. All songs must be Creative Commons work done by yourself so they are deemed “podsafe”.
To get started, fill in the contact form below and make sure you link to the mp3 file.

Daphne and I decided to do another fashion challenge, only this time we chose each other’s item around which to build three unique outfits. For me, Daphne chose SLink Boutique’s Leather Jacket in Blood. For Daphne, I chose Ingenue’s The Pencil Skirt, and she chose the Aubergine one.
Daphne was unaware that I had already blogged SLink’s Leather jacket in Toffee. I chose a semi-office-proper look that paired the jacket with SLink’s own Mid Thigh skirt. I also wore Enkythings‘ Pinson boots; Argyle’s Emily Velvet scarf; Miriel’s Beatrice earrings; Sheer’s Lace Mesh stockings; Fleur’s Vivant Feline skin; and ETD’s Luth hair.
Daphne’s first outfit is a cute date outfit. She paired Ingenue’s skirt with the Crocheted shrug and ANALU Silk top from MG Fashions. She also chose Sheer’s Nylons with Leaves; Maitreya’s Slinky stilettos; Muse’s Dauphine necklace and earrings; ETD’s Davinia II hair; and Layniewear’s skin from Another Fundraiser.
My second outfit was inspired by the shape of the jacket. I figured that since it looked like a biker jacket, I’d go for a chic biker look. I wore LF Fashions‘ Isabeaux Leather pants (on the underwear layer) and Shiny Things‘ Flowered Biker boots (the plain version). I accented my outfit with Dark Eden’s Harness belt; Artilleri’s Funky scarf (in leopard); Eat Me’s Aviator Goggles; Fleur’s gloves; ETD’s Wynn hair; and Tuli’s S5 Rebel skin.
Daphne’s second outfit is a fun party-girl outfit. She wore Hiccup’s Ruffly vest; Simply Spoiled’s Pearl choker and Pearl Knotted string; Maitreya’s Chichi shoes; Diversity’s Emmy hair; and Fleur’s Feline skin.
For my last outfit, I went for a sleek, fashionista look. I took a trip to Armidi for their Rainy Day dress and Kyoto boots. Then, I put on my Fashionably Dead Ultimate Bug Eye glasses that remind me so much of a pair of Chanel sunglasses that I would kill for in real life; my Paper Couture Boulevard bag and Vintage Black earrings; Creamshop’s plain tights; Calla’s Black Poplar hair; and Blowpop’s Mellie3 Dear Brigitte skin (soon to be released).
Finally, Daphne’s last outfit was more of an urban look. She wore Pushbutton Industries‘ Renfield turtleneck; Civvies‘ Wooly Holey socks; Artilleri’s Pyramid belt; Shiny Things’ Oxfords; Cake’s Wish hair; and Chai’s Midnight skin.
Next time we do a Fashion Challenge, we’d like you, our listeners, to get involved! Please suggest items for us to use! You can reach both of us in-world, or reach us by email at daphne.abernathy@gmail.com or tamara.kirshner@gmail.com.
