This week, Daphne and I wanted to share our favorite holiday gowns. We invited Second Life’s designers to submit review copies of their formals to us and each of us chose our absolute favorite gown and three runners-up. With so many wonderful gowns, we had a hard time choosing! However, after nearly drowning in tulle, lace, satin and beadwork, we finally made our choices.
Daphne’s third runner-up was Simone!’s Myrhh gown. This body-conscious red dress is perfect for any fancy Christmas party with it’s plunging neckline and fantastic beadwork. To compliment Myrhh, Daphne is wearing Tesla’s Shiny Vixens shoes (trust me); Caroline’s Love of Pearls necklace and earrings; ETD’s Jessica hair; and LF Chai’s Becca skin.
My third runner-up was also by Simone! I chose the Natalie because of it’s versatility. With it’s gorgeous Champagne color, it’s perfect for New Years Eve as well as any early spring formals you may attend. I love the fitted bodice and the way the beading on the gloves reflects the beading on the gown itself. Along with Natalie, I’m wearing Shiny Things‘ Classic pumps; Muse’s Claris pearl set for Relay for Life; ETD’s Lynne II hair; and Celestial Studios‘ Vogue skin.
Next, Daphne chose DE Designs‘ Home for the Holidays gown. This spaghetti-strapped gold formal is elegant and sensual with its soft fabric and lace-up back. Daphne chose Tesla’s Shiny Vixens; Caroline’s Love of Pearls earrings and necklace; ETD’s Chignon from the Couture Collection (now sold under a different name); and Tete a Pied’s Vivant Soiree skin to wear with Home for the Holidays.
I fell in love with the bouncy, floaty Dawn gown from Nymphetamine’s. This gown also comes in black, red, and purple. The ornate embroidery on the bodice and the daring decolletage make this gown a real head turner! I’m also wearing Tesla’s Shiny Vixens; Caroline’s Caoimhe Gold Celtic Necklace; Truth’s Gillian hair; and Cake’s Sierra skin.
Daphne had a difficult time choosing her second runner-up, but she went with !Rebel Hope’s Gala gown. This one shouldered gown is red carpet ready with glamorous silver trim and a fun bow on the shoulder. To accent Gala, Daphne chose to wear the shoes and clutch that came with the gown; Caroline’s Journey Diamond necklace (group gift) and Diamond Stud earrings (freebie); ETD’s Marisela hair; and LF Chai’s Midnight skin.
I had no trouble choosing my first runner up! Even though I received countless gown submissions, I went out and bought Adam n’ Eve’s Voila gown. This body-conscious style flatters my curves and the color is just gorgeous (the gown comes in several other colors). Caroline Apollo noted that her gorgeous Blue Cameo Locket in Silver and Pearls would be the perfect necklace for this gown. I’m also wearing Tesla’s Shiny Vixens; ETD’s Bonita hair; and Tete a Pied’s Vivant Vin skin.
And now the moment we’ve all been waiting for! Daphne’s favorite gown! With all the formals we received, Daphne’s favorite was Casa del Shai’s Daphne’s Diamond Dress. Shai’s gorgeous flowing gown has a ruched halter top and diamond clasps at the bust and small of the back. The beadwork is reminiscent of snowflakes! Along with her Diamond Dress, Daphne wore Tesla’s Shiny Vixens; Caroline’s Journey Diamond necklace and Diamond Stud earrings; ETD’s Marisela hair; and Tete a Pied’s Vivant Boudoir skin.
I was stunned by Designing Nicky Ree’s majestic Snow Queen. This regal gown’s collar looks like it’s made of ice crystals. Unlike other gowns that are washed out by face or body lamps, the Snow Queen looks even more stunning with a face lamp! To accent the Snow Queen, I chose Tesla’s Shiny Vixens; Caroline’s Snowflake Diamond earrings and necklace; ETD’s Vivian hair; and LF Chai’s Crush skin, though you may prefer Tete a Pied’s Snow Queen skin designed specifically for this gown.
